Jason Paul Wightman (pronounced white-man) was born and raised in Rhode Island.  He studied fine art and received a BFA at The University of Tampa.  His love of the water, fishing and the outdoors has sculpted his work.  Surrounded by florida’s natuaral beauty he tries to capture these moments. His variety of subects, focusing on contemporary low light landscapes, fish, birds, and other wildlife. Wightman credits childhood fishing trips in Rhode Island and Florida as early inspirations for his art.

Wightman’s evolution from classical to abstract and graphic and now a non photo realistic landscapes.  Which he continues to push to its limits in his own unique style. One idea that drives his work is that evolution in art is never ending. He is constantly challenging himself with new ideas and new ways of looking at the same subject.
